A Dream Big Studios project
Adam and I are sculptors. We are fortunate to make our living creating and selling art. Much of the work that we do is Monumental work that you see in the public venues. You can see some of that on our Dream Big Sculpture website. We also each have personal websites that have work may be more suited to private collections: Adam's website is here and Lorri's is here .
Like most of the world, our hearts have been heavy lately. As covid-19 has swept throughout the world, we have watched the headlines. We have been saddened by news of deaths from around the world. We have felt the economic impact of the stay at home orders and watched our "best-layed" plans crumble.
We have felt helpless staying home as our front line medical workers work tirelessly to save people day after day with limited supplies of the proper equipment to keep them safe.
But then, a couple of weeks ago one of our distributors emailed to let us know that she had been watching the news and was worried about us. She wanted us to know that she had access to shipping us masks.
And now we have something we can do. And we're so grateful for that.
We immediately ordered 500 kn-95 masks for our local firefighters and hospital. They have been received, approved, and they will filter the virus out of the air they are breathing.
Once we posted this great news, others began to ask if they can help. We began to see the need to set up an opportunity for people to give toward this effort.
Since we make our living as artists, we realized that we could gather more money for masks by selling art, and support other artists at the same time.
People really need art in their lives right now. Galleries, stores, and shows are closed and cancelled right now, and many people are really missing the joy of viewing, experiencing and purchasing art.
Our artist friends are creating work with no where to show it, and are financially impacted by the economic shut down. So here we are, with the opportunity and ability to bring the artists together with art lovers and giving them an opportunity to work together make a difference.
As of April 11, 2020 we have donated 1000 masks.
Selfishly, this makes us feel better.
If it makes you feel better too, join us.
Your support and contributions will enable us to make a difference for our front line heroes.
